In 2010, Vermont Life Magazine selected two of my prints for publication.  In the Summer issue, they chose Mt. Pisgah in Westmore, VT as part of a pictorial, marking the first publication of on of my prints.  In the following Autumn issue they chose Pinnacle View in Stowe, VT for a two-page centerfold.  These publications were particularly meaningful to me as my late Grandfather, Richard "Dick" Hungerford, was an avid reader and collector of Vermont Life Magazine.  When he passed away in 2005, I received many of his old back issues of the magazine.  He was also a photography enthusiast, and loved the beauty of Vermont.

In January 2010, I organized a Haiti Earthquake Relief Fundraiser.  We sold tickets and raffled off a panoramic print of the Jay Peak Ridgeline in Enosburg, Vermont.  The fundraiser raised just over $1000 to send to victims of the devastating Earthquake that killed several hundred thousand people and left just as many homeless and injured.  I really appreciate all the support that was shown to the cause.  The raffle was won by Michael St. Joseph, of Bellows Free Academy, seen at left with me.  I have found that Vermonters are very generous and caring, and I am trying to continue this value with my photography by donating pieces to charities and fundraisers.  It is amazing what can be accomplished for those less fortunate when people come together and help as a community.  Please contact us if you have a cause that could benefit from raffling or auctioning off a print.

During my travels around the state, I began to realize that Vermont was filled with beautiful wildlife, scenery, and culture that I also began to photograph in addition to waterfalls.  I gained valuable experience in photography techniques and exploring nature during this time.  In the fall of 2009, I started Vermont Photography, selling and showing fine art prints throughout the state, and online at www.chrishungerford.com.  I have often found relaxation and joy traveling around Vermont, and hope to pass this on to others through my photography.

My interest in photography began in 2005, as I began to explore the Waterfalls of Vermont.  For some reason, I have always been captivated by the sights and sounds of falling water.   I visited nearly 100 waterfalls in the next few years, and in January of 2007 I launched the website www.vtfalls.com.  In the summer of 2009, WCAX (Ch. 3) approached me about doing a special on my passion for waterfalls.  We visited Moss Glen Falls and Bingham Falls in Stowe to get footage for the video.  Since then I have given several lectures on Vermont waterfalls, including one for UVM's Osher program in the Spring of 2010.  I have since continued to work on a book on Vermont's waterfalls, and am always on the lookout for white water falling down the mountains of our state.
